Inadequate electrolyte intake can seriously inhibit horses performing at their best. During travel, exercise and competitions the horse will lose a significant quantities of electrolytes mainly Sodium, Chloride and Potassium through sweating.
In heat these levels are increased and need to be replaced by their daily diet to maintain health and performance. Whilst a horse’s normal diet will help to contribute to the total electrolyte intake, the diet of working horses are in general short of adequate amounts of Sodium and Chloride.
Whilst electrolytes can be added to the feeds, many horses find these unpalatable, and due to their granular make up can be left at the bottom of the feed bucket.
Tasteless Salt is different, it is a unique formulation that provides an easily digestible source of Sodium and Chloride. The grains of Tasteless Salt are encapsulated in a peppermint flavoured outer, making it more attractive to the horse. Once crunched and swallowed the outer dissolves allowing the Sodium and Chloride to be absorbed by the stomach.
Tasteless Salt is suitable for all working horses and can be used prior to, during and post competition, taking into consideration the horses rate of sweating, the weather and the amount of water that has been drunk.
